Beneath our feet lies a station with a past. Longkou West Station is more than just a stop on Guangzhou’s Line 11. It is a place where old names meet new beginnings.

Longkou West Station started operations on December 28, 2024. This modern station sits underground. It is at the intersection of Longkou Road West and Zhongyue Road in Tianhe District.

Originally, planners called it Longkou East Station. Later, during construction, it was known as Tianhe East. In June 2023, the city announced the station’s name would be Longkou West Station. This became official in May 2024. The station completed its “three powers” transfer in September 2024. This ensured it had the electrical systems ready for operation.

Longkou West Station offers easy access to different parts of the city. Exit A takes you to Longkou Road West and the Longkou West Public Bus Stop. Exit B leads to Longkou 3rd Middle Street. You can find the Longkou East Public Bus Stop here. Exit C connects you to Longkou Road East. The Guangdong Social Science Centre is nearby. Exit D also goes to Longkou Road East.

Inside Longkou West Station, you will find a well-organized layout. The G level has exits. The L1 and L2 levels contain passageways. These connect the lobby to exits. L3 is the lobby level. Here, you can find ticket machines, customer service, shops, a police station, and restrooms. Platforms are on L4. Platform 1 is for the Outer Circle line towards Shahe. Platform 2 serves the Inner Circle line to South China Normal University.

Guangzhou Metro Line 11 is quite the circle line. It brings people to many important spots. Longkou West Station is a key part of this network. It helps locals and visitors move around Tianhe District with ease.

Notably, Longkou is more than just a Guangzhou metro station name. Longkou is also a port city in Shandong province, China. This Longkou is famous for Longkou Vermicelli. Longkou vermicelli has been exported from Longkou Port for over 300 years.

Longkou, Shandong, boasts a rich history and culture. The city is known for its fruit production, including apples and grapes. Longkou has also earned honors like National Civilized City and China Excellent Tourist City.

Interestingly, the name “Longkou” means “Dragon Mouth.” Perhaps this connection to the dragon symbolizes the dynamic spirit of both Longkou in Guangzhou and Longkou in Shandong. Each location, in its own way, connects people and places.

So, as you board the train at Longkou West Station, remember its journey. From a planned name to a vital station, it is a testament to Guangzhou’s growth. Longkou West Station is more than just a stop. It is a gateway to new adventures in this bustling metropolis.
