Phường Thới Hòa stands as a testament to Vietnam’s dynamic history. It showcases its continuous growth. Originally part of Gò Vấp district in Gia Định province under French rule Phường Thới Hòa has seen many changes.
Let’s step back in time to the early 20th century. Imagine French Indochina. Picture three villages Tân Hòa Tân Hòa Tây and Bình Thới merging in 1916. This merger formed the village of Tân Thới Hòa a precursor to the Phường Thới Hòa we see today.
The French colonial administration later decided to slice off a piece of Tân Thới Hòa. They incorporated it into Cholon city. This area now falls within Quận 6 and Quận 11.
Fast forward to 1939. Tân Thới Hòa village merged again this time with Phú Thọ to become Phú Thọ Hòa village.
After 1956 villages were renamed xã. In 1957 the government separated Tổng Dương Hòa Thượng from Gò Vấp district. This created Tân Bình district and xã Phú Thọ Hòa became part of it. At that time Tân Thới Hòa was a hamlet within xã Phú Thọ Hòa.
In 1976 xã Phú Thọ Hòa dissolved into new wards within Tân Bình district. The old hamlet of Tân Thới Hòa became part of Ward 20.
A significant administrative shift occurred on November 5 2003. The government established Tân Phú district. It also created Phường Thới Hòa from part of Ward 20.
Phường Thới Hòa covers an area of 1.15 square kilometers. In 2021 its population was 31070 people. The population density reached 27017 people per square kilometer.
Phường Thới Hòa borders Quận 11 to the east. It shares a western border with quận Bình Tân. Quận 6 lies to the south. The Hiệp Tân and Hòa Thạnh wards are to the north.
In Phường Thới Hòa stands the Đình Tân Hòa Tây. This is a historic landmark. This place reflects the cultural heritage. It stands as a reminder of the past. It is a place to appreciate.
