Rumors swirl around Devine Healers Church. Whispers of power struggles and constitutional amendments fill the air. Devine Healers Church, with its vast network of over 1,900 branches across Ghana, faces internal conflict. Six pastors have taken legal action against their General Overseer, Apostle Adade, and five other church leaders. They seek to prevent an Emergency Church Congress aimed at amending the church’s constitution. The pastors claim Apostle Adade has manipulated the system to extend his leadership beyond the stipulated term limits. His first term ended in 2011. He is now allegedly serving an unconstitutional fourth term. The plaintiffs allege Apostle Adade formed an “unconstitutional College of Apostles”. This group declared the Holy Spirit’s decree for his continued leadership, bypassing any election process. They pressured the congregation by stating, “He who is against the Holy Spirit should stand up.” The proposed amendments, sent to the General Pentecost and Charismatic Church for approval, reportedly change the retirement age to 70. Those already 70 would gain an additional three years. The dissenting pastors accuse the leadership of hijacking church activities and attempting to maintain lifelong positions.
