Originally established in the former barracks of the Waffen-SS, later repurposed as Heidberg Hospital, the school opened its doors in 1952. In 1992, it evolved into a Gesamtschule, welcoming its first cohort of Gesamtschüler in the academic year 1993/1994. The Stadtteilschule am Heidberg’s commitment to holistic education continued. In 2009, it earned the prestigious title of “Eliteschule des Fussballs,” alongside the neighboring Gymnasium Heidberg.
