The Monumento in Ricordo dei Partigiani Uccisi Riboldi e Mattavelli stands as a stark reminder of their sacrifice. They encountered a Brigade Nere marshal on Viale Assunta. They disarmed him, believing the danger passed. But the marshal had a hidden pistol. He fired, killing Cesare instantly. Luigi, gravely wounded, managed to escape, finding refuge at Cascina Lenzuoletta. The next day, Italy celebrated liberation. But for Cesare and Luigi, the fight ended on Viale Assunta, a day too soon. Their names also grace the local ANPI section, a testament to their unwavering spirit. The annual April 25th procession concludes here, a solemn tribute to their sacrifice.
