Founded in 1907 Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Christian Cathedral stands as a testament to faith and resilience. It’s the oldest Orthodox church in Michigan. For the first year they worshipped in a rented building. In 1908 they acquired the current site. A wooden church was built. A parish school followed in 1912. The wooden church eventually became too small. The community flourished. A larger church was needed.
The new Saints Peter & Paul Orthodox Christian Cathedral was finally built. Groundbreaking was in 1948. The dedication was in 1949. The iconography inside is the work of Nicholas Zadorojny. He was a renowned iconographer. His art graced the walls for years.
