Is it possible for a school to be both historic and vibrantly modern? Here at the Eichendorffschule, it is. This school is a municipal elementary school in Muenster-Angelmodde. The Eichendorffschule is a lively, inclusive, and diverse school. About 300 young students attend in 12 classes. Around 70 adults from 17 nations work here.

The Eichendorffschule has a rich history. It was founded in 1967. The school was named after the Silesian poet Joseph von Eichendorff. This commemorated the refugees and displaced people from the East. In 1974, an extension added eight classrooms and two apartments. One classroom was designated for a kindergarten. Over the years, the Eichendorffschule has adapted to meet the needs of its students and community.
In 2023, the Eichendorffschule created a near-natural area next to the gymnasium. They cooperated with NABU, the beekeepers association, and the City of Muenster. The school’s support association financed a bee house and bee stock. The first Eichendorff honey was sold at a large Angelmodde neighborhood festival. In 2022, the Eichendorffschule was honored as a “Liveable School”. This award recognized their strength in collaboration. From 2020 to 2021, digital devices were expanded due to the Corona pandemic. In 2017, the Eichendorffschule celebrated its 50th anniversary with a large school festival.
