Hidden within the heart of Logan Square lies Stewart Park. It’s more than just swings and slides. This park whispers a tale of community spirit and a family’s love. Sarah Clark Stuart, a Logan Square resident, noticed something missing in her neighborhood. Despite the proximity of Fairmount Park, there wasn’t a local park that truly served the community. Sarah and her husband, Robert, were experienced activists. They knew how to make things happen. They set their sights on creating a much-needed green space. Robert was a leader in the Logan Square Neighborhood Association. He advocated for improved access to the Schuylkill River. Together, they began searching for a suitable location for their dream park. Tragedy struck in 2011. Robert passed away before their vision could be realized.
