“Ever feel the ground rumble slightly beneath your feet?” That’s the Kecun station. It is a vital hub connecting Guangzhou. This is not just another metro stop. It’s a place where two important lines intersect. Lines 3 and 8 meet right here under Kecun Village.
Let’s talk history. Kecun station first opened on June 28 2003. Back then it was part of Line 2. Imagine it a single line running from Wanshengwei to Sanyuanli. That was before the big expansion in September 2010. That expansion changed everything making Kecun station the interchange we know today.
Think about the layout. Kecun station is an underground marvel. It has several levels. B1 is the concourse. Here you find ticket machines customer service shops and even a police station. Need to change a diaper? There is a baby changing station too. Safety first there are safety facilities on this level as well.
Go down to B2. That’s where platforms 3 and 4 are. Platform 3 takes you towards Jiaoxin. Platform 4 heads to Wanshengwei. These are island platforms. The doors open on the left.
Now B3 is a transfer passageway. It connects Lines 3 and 8. This makes switching trains easy.
Finally we reach B4. Platforms 1 and 2 are here. Platform 1 goes towards Haibang. Platform 2 goes towards Tianhe Coach Terminal or Airport North. This is also an island platform. The doors open on the left.
Take a moment to look around. Notice the signs in Chinese. Kecun station is written as 客村站. In Cantonese it’s Haakchyun Jaahm. The station code is 308 for Line 8 and 823 for Line 3.
