Established in 1950 Osaka Prefecture Suita High School stands before us. Its history is woven into the very fabric of Suita. This public school wasn’t always here. It began its life in a different location. Initially it used the old Suita City Chiryuyama High School building. The current building wasn’t completed until 1951. The school then moved to its present site. This wasn’t without incident. A fire in 1957 destroyed a wooden school building. Osaka Prefecture Suita High School is more than just bricks and mortar. This was typical for general subjects. However some subjects like English and math had smaller class sizes. The school also had a part-time program. This was later discontinued in 2008. October 17th holds special significance. It’s the school’s founding anniversary. The school’s nickname is Suikoh. This translates to “high Suita”. The school is easily accessible. It’s about 1.5 kilometers northwest of Senri Station on the Hankyu Railway Main Line. You can also reach it by bus. Osaka Prefecture Suita High School is more than an institution.
