“A new rural area.” That’s what they call Quới Sơn. This Vietnamese commune is in the Châu Thành district. It’s part of Bến Tre province.
Quới Sơn covers 15.17 square kilometers. Back in 1999 over ten thousand people lived here. That’s a population density of 712 people per square kilometer. As of 2020 the population was about 15,665 people with 1,034 people per square kilometer.
Quới Sơn is proud. It was one of the first three communes in Châu Thành to reach new rural standards. This happened in 2016. Quới Sơn didn’t stop there. For three years they maintained and improved their standards. They are working hard to become an advanced new rural commune.
Lê Thanh Hùng is the Party Committee Secretary. He said that building a new rural area never truly ends. The Party Committee leads decisively. Authorities and organizations work together. They focus on key tasks with creative methods. These methods fit the local conditions. This helps Quới Sơn maintain its new rural standards.
Quới Sơn has changed a lot. The transport infrastructure is better. Roads are wider cleaner and more open. The electricity system is improving. It better serves the people’s needs. A new medical station offers better healthcare. The local market has been rebuilt. It boosts trade and services.
Poverty is decreasing. By the end of 2018 only 1.3% of households were poor. In 2016 the average income was over 32.6 million đồng per person per year. Now it is 43 million đồng per person per year. The environment is safer.
Secretary Lê Thanh Hùng shared his experience. He believes building a new rural area is everyone’s job. The community is directly involved. The State sets direction and provides support. Cadres at all levels are essential. They manage activities and connect with the people. Regular training improves their skills. They learn about new policies. They monitor progress and offer guidance. Workshops help communes learn from each other. They avoid common mistakes.
Quới Sơn promotes environmental awareness. They hold events for World Environment Day. They also support the National Clean Water and Rural Sanitation Week. Every “New Rural Sunday” residents clean up roads and maintain flowerbeds. Quới Sơn continues to improve as a new rural area. They encourage families to follow 15 guidelines. These efforts help Quới Sơn maintain its achievements. The local landscape has flat terrain. It has fertile soil from the Mekong Delta. This is great for growing crops. Coconuts and fruit trees thrive here.
Quới Sơn also borders the Mỹ Tho River. The river offers waterway transport. Quới Sơn aims to boost tourism. They plan ecological tours. They will also develop agricultural processing industries. Investing in infrastructure improves life for residents.
