How many schools can boast of having a slogan from Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.? Right here, in front of you, stands Лицей № 1535, a school with a rich history and a unique approach to education. Its very motto, “The great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving,” speaks volumes about its focus on growth and progress. Лицей № 1535 wasn’t always a Lyceum. The building was constructed in 1929. It served as a school named after Voroshilov in 1937 and even housed a military hospital during World War II. The Lyceum was established much later, in 1991, as an experimental institution with a focus on oriental studies. It initially had 350 students. After a major renovation in 2004-2005, which saw the addition of two new buildings, the school merged with School № 35 of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. This merger increased the student population to 900. While the name officially changed to School № 1535 in 2017, the spirit of the Lyceum remains. Admission to this prestigious school is based on rigorous entrance exams. The average class size is around 30 students, ensuring individual attention and a conducive learning environment. The school offers a variety of specializations for its students. These include mathematics, humanitarian studies, bio-medicine, social sciences, IT and technology, and even psychology and socio-psychology. Лицей № 1535 has consistently ranked among the top schools in Moscow and Russia. Its students excel in academic competitions and achieve impressive results in the Unified State Examination. This is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering a culture of excellence. So, as you stand in front of this seemingly ordinary building, remember the generations of students who walked these halls. Remember their thirst for knowledge and their dedication to making a difference in the world. Лицей № 1535 is more than just bricks and mortar. It is a living testament to the power of education and the importance of moving forward, always striving for a better tomorrow.
