In the early days Saint Bridget faced declining attendance and financial struggles. The church was even slated for closure. But Father James L. Swenson had a vision. He believed the neighborhood needed Saint Bridget.

Father Swenson a feisty and charismatic pastor worked tirelessly. He acquired properties around the church. Legend says he even buried a statue of Saint Joseph to help with real estate sales.

In 2008 Saint Bridget celebrated the dedication of its new sanctuary. Though Father Swenson was too ill to attend his dream had come true. The church was filled with joy. Today Saint Bridget parish has over 500 families.

Father Swenson also created the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration. It is open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. People of all faiths come to pray. There has never been vandalism there.

Saint Bridget embraces diversity. Masses are said in English Latin Spanish and Tagalog. The church celebrates Hispanic Filipino and other ethnic traditions. Father Swenson’s legacy lives on. He instilled joy in his parishioners. He was committed to his faith.

Mass times vary. Saturday services are at 9 am and 5 pm. Sunday offers multiple services. These include 7 am 9 am Spanish 11 am 1 pm Spanish 5 pm with Filipino music and 7 pm Spanish. Weekday Masses are also available.

Confessions are heard Saturday from 4 pm to 4:45 pm and Tuesday from 6 pm to 6:45 pm Spanish. Perpetual Adoration is always available. The Rosary is recited weekdays from 7 am to 8 am.
