Established in 1913 Englewood High School stands proudly before you. Its original location was quite different. It was at Broadway and Kenyon Avenues. As more students enrolled Englewood High outgrew its first building.
In 1953 construction on a new building began. The class of 1954 was the first to occupy the new structure. It remains standing today a testament to the enduring spirit of Englewood High. The school continued to evolve. In the early 1960s renovations added a large auditorium a library and more classrooms.
Englewood High School’s athletic facilities also boast a rich history. The Hosanna Athletic Complex houses the baseball and soccer fields. A significant upgrade occurred in 2005 with the installation of a new artificial turf field. This cost $600000 a considerable investment in student athletes.
Leadership at Englewood High School has seen changes over the years. Linda Torres served as principal until September 17 2008. She resigned for personal reasons. Vice Principal Davis stepped in temporarily. Ryan West later took the helm.
A new campus opened its doors on February 7 2015. This 239000 square foot facility is quite impressive. It serves not just Englewood High School but also Englewood Middle School and Englewood Leadership Academy. It accommodates about 1250 students.
Englewood High School boasts a notable alumni list. This includes actors Ray Baker and Lee Horsley. Former Major League Baseball pitcher Mike Wegener is also an alumnus. Steve Engel a former Cleveland Browns running back also graduated from Englewood High. The school has also produced more Boettcher Scholars than any other high school in the Denver metro area a remarkable achievement. Englewood High School truly is a hub of education excellence and tradition. Its history is one of growth adaptation and unwavering dedication to its students.
