Did you know that Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn has been a leader in New York City education for nearly a century? It opened its doors in September 1930. This large comprehensive Community High School is located in Coney Island.

To save money during the Great Depression, one set of blueprints was used for Abraham Lincoln High School and other high schools in New York City. Bayside High School, Samuel J. Tilden High School, John Adams High School, and Grover Cleveland High School shared the same design.
Abraham Lincoln High School has great facilities. There are five gymnasiums. An outdoor football and track and field area is available. There is also a swimming pool, a photography studio, and an animal science lab.
In 2023-2024, the school had 2,163 students. The student-to-teacher ratio was 17.16. With a teaching staff of 126.05.
Abraham Lincoln High School boasts a diverse student body. As of 2014, African American students made up the largest group. White students made up over one-quarter of the population. Hispanic and Latino students comprised over one-fifth. Asian American students made up 14%.
Abraham Lincoln High School offers many extracurricular activities. Students can join Acting or Animal Care Squad. They can participate in Anime or Arista National Honor Society. Other options include Cheerleading, Chess, and Chinese clubs. There is also Conflict Negotiation & Mediation, Debate Team, and a Gay-Straight Alliance.
The school has a virtual enterprise program. Students manage virtual businesses. They handle product development, production, and distribution. They also deal with marketing, sales, human resources, and accounting.
Abraham Lincoln High School has a veterinary science program. Students work with live animals.
Juniors can complete internships for credit. They work with businesses, nonprofits, or government agencies. Students develop employment skills and professional relationships.
Abraham Lincoln High School offers many sports. These include basketball, baseball, and football. Students can also participate in bowling, cross country, and handball. Other options are track and field, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.
Many notable alumni have walked these halls. These include three Nobel Prize laureates: Arthur Kornberg, Paul Berg, and Jerome Karle. Music legend Neil Diamond also attended Abraham Lincoln High School. He generously funds a college scholarship for ten graduating seniors every year. Marv Albert went here and became a television sportscaster. Arthur Miller the playwright went here.
