Towering over us, the Pollux stands as a testament to Frankfurt’s modern architecture. Let me tell you its story.
The Pollux, along with its twin Kastor, forms the Forum Frankfurt. These unequal towers are named after the Dioscuri from Greek mythology. The Dioscuri are Castor and Pollux.
In 1994, the site was very different. The headquarters of Deutsche Bundesbahn, the German national railway, stood here. Those buildings were demolished to make way for the future. By 1997, Pollux and Kastor were completed.
The architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox designed Pollux and Kastor. They collaborated with NHT + Partner GbR. The entire Forum Frankfurt project cost around 850 million Deutsche Mark.
Pollux reaches a height of 130 meters. It has 33 rentable floors. The building covers an area of approximately 31,500 square meters.
Since 2017, Zurich Group Germany has been the main tenant. They occupy 17 of the 33 floors. TechQuartier, a FinTech community, is also located in Pollux. The main owner of Pollux is an international joint venture managed by Schroders.
Interestingly, Pollux and Kastor share a combined pile and slab foundation. This engineering feat ensures the stability of these high-rise structures.
The Pollux is not alone in Frankfurt’s skyline. Nearby, you’ll find MesseTurm, Tower 185, and ONE. These buildings contribute to Frankfurt’s impressive skyline.
In front of the Pollux, in the green area of Platz der Einheit, stands a light sculpture. It is called Synergy. Swiss artist Christian Herdeg created it. An oval fountain surrounds the sculpture enhancing the water reflection. This installation expresses the interaction of space, light, and time.
The location of Pollux is prime. It’s in the Gallus district, near the Frankfurt exhibition area. Pollux is also close to the European District.
Available office spaces are on different floors. You can find spaces from the 2nd to the 13th floor. These spaces range from 445 to 1,012 square meters.
