“What began as a small seed has blossomed into a vibrant testament of faith.” Right here we stand before the True Jesus Church in Kuala Lumpur. It is a place of worship rooted in a unique history.

Established in 1995 the True Jesus Church Cheras began its journey. Before that True Jesus Church Gombak spearheaded evangelism efforts. The goal was to spread the gospel throughout Kuala Lumpur. Cheras with its large population became the next focal point.

In 1994 a significant step was taken. A double-storey shop lot was purchased for RM350000 in Taman Midah Cheras. On August 31 1995 the church building was dedicated. In that year the Cheras church joined the General Assembly of True Jesus Church Malaysia with 102 members.

As membership grew the church expanded its physical space. In 2000 a shop lot next to the existing church was bought for RM420000. This new building was dedicated on November 25 2001.

The True Jesus Church Cheras didn’t stop there. They continued spreading the gospel setting up an Evangelical Centre in Sungai Long in 2000. In 2015 the Cheras Church branched out again. This led to the establishment of the Bandar Mahkota Church in Cheras.

The True Jesus Church itself has wider origins. It began in Beijing China in 1917. Paul Wei a silk merchant founded it. He was influenced by charismatic practices. These included faith healing baptism of the Holy Spirit foot washing and Sabbath keeping.

The church maintains a seventh-day Sabbath. The True Jesus Church emphasizes practices such as speaking in tongues as evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit. Baptism by full body immersion in natural water is essential for salvation.

From its beginnings in China the True Jesus Church has spread globally. Today it has members in over sixty countries. The church has an international headquarters in California.
