In 1937, amidst a rapidly changing world, Gwanghui Middle School first opened its doors as a two-year vocational training school. Imagine young students, eager to learn practical skills, walking these very grounds. Gwanghui Middle School has witnessed a dramatic transformation throughout the decades. It transitioned from a vocational school to a four-year program in 1946, then to a six-year program shortly after. The Korean War brought turmoil. In 1950, classes were suspended. The school reopened in Busan as a temporary middle school. Finally, in 1953, Gwanghui Middle School returned to Seoul. The school continued to evolve, expanding its facilities and programs. In 1968, it adopted the middle and high school split system. Gwanghui Middle School moved to its current location in Eungbong-dong in 1976. The new building marked a fresh chapter in the school’s history. Gwanghui Middle School has always been more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where young minds are nurtured. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of education amidst adversity. It has played a vital role in shaping generations of students.
