El Marino Park isn’t just any park. It is the only park in Culver City with a Ceramics Hut and a kiln. Culver City Parks offers ceramics classes right here. Imagine creating art surrounded by nature.
This park is next to El Marino Language School. It is a popular spot for kids to meet and play after school. Parents often meet their children here. Impromptu playdates are common after the school day ends. It’s a safe and welcoming space for the community.
In 1954, Culver City purchased this property from C. Cereghino. This purchase marked the beginning of El Marino Park. It has grown into a vital part of the community over the years.
El Marino Park has a recreation building with restroom facilities. Picnic areas invite gatherings. You will find three barbeques for cooking. Kids can enjoy the children’s play equipment. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the two softball diamonds, one basketball court, and one soccer field. Passive grass areas offer space to relax. Night lighting allows for evening enjoyment.
The park provides two main picnic areas. One area has six eight-foot picnic tables. It can accommodate up to 60 people. The other area is in the center of the park with three eight-foot tables. This area can hold 30 people. Moonbounces are allowed with a permit.
Speaking of permits, picnic permits are available seven days a week. These permits are valid from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This allows ample time for a leisurely outdoor gathering.
Kenny Stevenson shared his experience with El Marino Park. As a USYVL volleyball coach, he saw many children introduced to volleyball here. His daughter developed a love for the sport at El Marino Park.
Currently, the playground for ages 2-5 is undergoing rehabilitation. The Parks Department is replacing it with a new one.
