MTO Shahmaghsoudi officially opened its doors in 2008. The striking architecture features an eight-pointed star design, crowned by a magnificent 45-foot glass dome. The building itself holds a special significance within the Sufi community. It serves as a center for the MTO Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism. Inside, you’ll find an impressive library boasting over 6,000 books. The subjects range from Islamic studies and Sufism to science, literature, and medicine. There’s also an exhibition room showcasing cultural and historical Sufi artifacts. MTO Shahmaghsoudi isn’t just focused on inward reflection. It’s deeply committed to serving the community. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, members and volunteers mobilized to create personal protective equipment. They organized care packages and donations for frontline workers, homeless organizations, and schools. This commitment to service extends beyond times of crisis. MTO Shahmaghsoudi has received numerous accolades for its community work, including recognition from the City of Los Angeles and even the United States Senate. The center’s outdoor space is just as captivating. A beautiful garden surrounds the building, filled with a variety of plants and flowers. A unique eight-pointed fountain, adorned with a colorful tile mosaic, takes center stage. A tranquil 40-foot koi pond with a fountain and walkway bridge adds to the serene atmosphere.
