Behold this remarkable building, a modern structure that whispers tales of a bygone era. This is the Pop Building. Built in 1966 by architects René Aerts and Paul Ramon, it originally housed the Christian Socialist Party.

Imagine this facade in its prime. It was a bold statement against the backdrop of Brussels’ 19th-century architecture. The Pop Building stood out with its vibrant orange hue.

The Pop Building’s design follows the curtain wall principle. It features 228 orange modules. These fiberglass resin components give the facade an incredible rhythm. Orange was the emblematic color of the party.

Both the front and rear facades of the Pop Building share a similar design. However, the street-facing side underwent a complete restoration. It was repainted in a flamboyant orange in 2006.

Fast forward to 2020. The Pop Building was sold. It has since been restored. Today, it houses the offices of Sabam. Sabam is the Société Belge des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs. It is the Belgian Society of Authors, Composers, and Publishers.

Consider the impact of this building. It was a punch of color and modern design amidst classic structures. The Pop Building made a statement. It was vintage even before its time.

Let your eyes dance across the modules. See the rhythm and the bold color. Appreciate the Pop Building’s contribution to Brussels’ architectural landscape. It is a testament to the power of design. It showcases how buildings can reflect the spirit of their time.

The Pop Building is not just a building. It is a piece of history. It is a symbol of innovation. It stands as a reminder of Brussels’ ever-evolving identity.
