It’s now one of Ireland’s largest private secondary schools. It boasts a remarkable record of sending students to top universities worldwide. Think Oxford Cambridge Harvard even.

The school occupies several renovated Georgian houses on Leeson Street. There are also newer buildings at the rear. The Institute is fully equipped. It has science labs an art room a home economics kitchen. Even a specialized technical drawing classroom is present. Two halls provide supervised study areas. Technology plays a big role. All classes are recorded and livestreamed on Panopto. The Moodle system facilitates communication and online learning.

The Institute of Education isn’t funded by the government. It’s self-financing. This unique status means it operates independently of standard Department of Education rules. It’s also unique in its size. It’s the single largest provider of students to Irish third-level institutions.

Many notable alumni have emerged from the Institute of Education. Stephen Byrne the RTÉ presenter studied here. So did Katy French the socialite and model. Even the pop duo Jedward and actress Evanna Lynch are alumni. The Institute clearly fosters success.
