Did you know Myung Duk Foreign Language High School wasn’t always a haven for language enthusiasts? This impressive building before you stands as a testament to Seoul’s dedication to global education. Myung Duk Foreign Language High School opened its doors in 1992. It welcomed 500 students eager to learn various languages.

The school’s history began earlier though. The Ministry of Education approved its establishment in September 1991. Construction of the Su Myung Kwan building was completed by November 30 1991. This beautiful building became the home of Myung Duk Foreign Language High School.

Initially Myung Duk offered ten language classes. Three each for German French and Japanese. One class focused on Russian. Today the program has expanded. Four English classes exist now. Two each for German and French. Plus one each for Japanese Russian and two for Chinese. The school has significantly grown since its opening.

Myung Duk isn’t just about academics. It fosters a vibrant student life. The school holds a track and field day in May. Students compete in various sports including soccer basketball volleyball and tennis. There is also an active speech club.

Many clubs exist in Myung Duk. Students run these clubs independently. They reflect their members’ interests and hobbies. Over 40 clubs functioned as of 2007. Even more clubs could form if students choose to start them. Myung Duk encourages student initiative.

The school also offers a Global Education Program. This program helps students prepare for college overseas. The curriculum focuses on the SAT TOEFL and AP classes. Students also take part in internships leadership programs and community service. Myung Duk equips its students for global success. It prepares them for college and careers worldwide.
