Ever wonder where Hollywood history is still being made? That’s right here at The Lot Studios.
Let me introduce you to The Lot Studios in West Hollywood. It is a creative campus with a rich past and a vibrant present. The Lot Studios has modern facilities and a legacy of inspiring filmmakers.
In 1918, Jesse D. Hampton built a simple film studio here. It stood at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Formosa Avenue. Over a century later, The Lot Studios has become a top independent production hub.
This is where the magic happens. The Lot Studios spans 11 acres. It offers comprehensive production and support space. You’ll find everything needed to take a production from start to finish. All facilities and services are right here on site.
The Lot Studios wasn’t always called that. In 1922, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks bought the studio. They named it Pickford-Fairbanks Studios in their honor. Later, it was known as United Artists Studio and Samuel Goldwyn Studios. For a time it was also called Warner Hollywood Studios.
The Lot Studios boasts seven sound stages. These stages range from 9000 to 14,000 square feet. They offer open shooting space. The stages feature wood floors over concrete slabs. Ceilings soar from 27 to over 35 feet to the grid.
The catwalks here are top-notch. They have a fully functional tight perm setup. There is a loading area with a chain hoist and sliding rail. Multiple tie-off points make them the best in the business.
But there’s more than just sound stages. The Lot Studios offers three state-of-the-art office buildings. You’ll also find historic production offices and a construction mill. There are sound mixing studios too. A fully equipped kitchen and an on-site base camp complete the picture.
The Goldwyn Sound Facility is renowned throughout the industry. It is known for its technical excellence. The personnel are outstanding. Work completed here has earned numerous Academy Award nominations. Several Oscars have been won here too.
The Lot Studios also provides creative outdoor spaces. These areas are perfect for meetings, creation, or relaxation. The Lot Studios can host events ranging from 10 to over 3,000 guests. It is an impressive venue for any special occasion.
Today, The Lot Studios continues to be a creative platform. It supports TV shows, films, commercials, and photo shoots. With on-site post-production and ample parking, it’s a full-service studio.
So, as you stand here at The Lot Studios, remember its history. Picture the countless stars and filmmakers who have walked these grounds. Know that you are standing where Hollywood history was made. It continues to be made today.
