The Parroquia de San Gabriel de la Dolorosa was officially established on August 27, 1965. Initially named San Vicente Mártir, the parish was rededicated to San Gabriel de la Dolorosa just a few months later, on November 11. The Passionist Fathers, embracing the neighborhood’s diversity and needs, quickly became integral to its fabric. The dream of a dedicated church building began to take shape. Years of planning and effort culminated in the inauguration of the current Parroquia de San Gabriel de la Dolorosa on February 27, 1994. This modern structure, designed by architect Francisco Coello de Portugal, became a symbol of the community’s growth and enduring faith. The church also houses a formation center for Passionist students, adding another layer to its vibrant atmosphere. Fast forward to 2015, the Parroquia de San Gabriel de la Dolorosa marked its 50th anniversary. The celebration culminated in a pilgrimage to Rome, a testament to the community’s deep connection to its faith. Today, the Parroquia de San Gabriel de la Dolorosa continues its mission of evangelization and community building.
