One architectural gem is the 18th-century Church of El Salvador. Inside, you’ll find a remarkable figure of crucified Christ. It predates the church by a century, making it one of the oldest sculptures on the island. Other examples include the Shrine of Nuestra Señora del Buen Paso and the Church of San Salvador. These structures, with their traditional stonework, blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Alajeró is also home to El Calvario Mountain. This peak, also known as Tagaragunche, holds a special significance for the people of La Gomera. It was an ancient sacred site. Perched atop the mountain is the Shrine of San Isidro and the majestic Drago de Agalán, a famous dragon tree. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the southwestern coast.
