Gazing up at the Eving Selimiye Camii, imagine a space designed for more than just prayer. This mosque, nestled within Dortmund, is envisioned as a vibrant hub. The Eving Selimiye Camii project seeks to create a multifaceted community center. It will house a prayer room, of course. But also a dining hall, a learning space, and a kitchen. There’s even a library planned, along with traditional Turkish rooms, a living room, offices, and a tea house. The project’s scope is impressive. The planned floor space covers 1,860 square meters. The building itself will occupy 400 square meters. The prayer room alone will be a spacious 160 square meters. The Eving Selimiye Camii will also provide accommodations for up to 18 people. The estimated cost for this ambitious undertaking is 2.37 million euros. The project reflects a vision of the Eving Selimiye Camii as a true community heart. It’s a place where faith, learning, and social connection intertwine.
