Cheyenne High School

Opened in 1991, Cheyenne High School stands as a beacon in North Las Vegas. This isn’t just any high school. Cheyenne High School has played host to President Barack Obama not once, but multiple times, echoing with the weight of his words. Imagine the halls buzzing with the energy of those visits. The school’s motto, “Dedicated to Excellence,” resonates in programs like the unique Educational Exchange Program. Cheyenne High School is one of only ten schools in the US to offer this program, connecting students with cultures across the globe, even reaching as far as Algeria and Russia. The school spirit is strong here. The Desert Shields, the school’s mascot, represent the resilience and strength of the student body. That spirit is embodied in the vibrant navy blue and Vegas gold school colors and echoes in the stands during sporting events. The marching band, also called the Desert Shields, started with the school’s opening in the 1991-1992 school year. Cheyenne High School even boasts a championship-winning girls’ cross country team, adding to their legacy. Beyond academics, Cheyenne High School focuses on fostering a positive learning environment.
