“The first bay of the Lijiang River” is what they call it. Here before us is Damian Mountain. It is also known as Goupo Mountain. Damian Mountain offers one of the finest views on the Li River.
Damian Mountain sits in Yangshuo Xingping. It is across from the Huang Ni Tian region. Snail Hill is nearby. The Li River flows from west to east. It sketches a large bow around Xingping. This bow envelops Damian Mountain.
Damian Mountain occupies the middle portion of the Gong character. It is the prime spot for watching the sunrise over the Li River. The mountain is about 3 km from Xingping Town.
Getting to the top requires a bit of effort. It is a sweaty 45-minute trek up this jungle-clad mountain. The path has roughly 1250 stone steps. The excursion is rated as high intensity. It requires continuous effort to cover approximately 400 meters.
Be careful because rain can make the ascent to the summit treacherous. Appropriate shoes and plenty of water are essential.
From the summit, the views are astounding. Jagged limestone peaks stretch endlessly into the horizon. The Li River winds its way through the landscape. It creates a mesmerizing scene.
Xianggong Mountain is also visible from here. It is encircled by verdant peaks. From that vantage point, you can see Xingping Pier. You can also see Da he bei village. Other sights include the ancient Walled Hill, Chaoben hill and the yellow cloth reflection area.
The sunlight casts shadows on the mountains. Clouds spread across the mountaintops. They form what appears to be a blanket of clouds. The tranquil waters of the Li River act as a mirror. They capture the silhouettes of the mountains.
