Taling Chan is located on the Khlong Chak Phra canal. This canal links Bangkok Noi to Bangkok Yai. It forms a semi-circular moat around old Thonburi. The Chao Phraya River completes the circle to the east.
The name Chak Phra has religious meaning. It marks Buddha’s return from heaven. The ceremony involves pulling Buddha relics on boats. This happens after the end of Buddhist Lent.
