In 2016, United Russia won 36 seats. The Liberal Democratic Party and the Communist Party each won 3 seats. A Just Russia and the Party of Growth also secured 3 seats each. In 2021, United Russia obtained 30 seats. The Communist Party secured 7. A Just Russia won 5 seats. New People secured 3 seats. The Yabloko and Liberal Democratic Party also secured 3 seats each.

The Governor of Saint Petersburg leads the executive branch. This branch includes the City Administration. The Governor is elected for a five-year term by Russian citizens residing in Saint Petersburg. The current governor’s term expires in September 2029.

Saint Petersburg is divided into administrative districts. These districts include suburbs. The city also serves as the administrative center for the Leningrad Oblast. Saint Petersburg shares several departments with the Leningrad Oblast. These include courts of arbitration and police. They also share FSB bureaux and postal services.
