Mushallah Baiturahman is more than just a building. It is a place of community and faith. Its story began with a vision in 1983. The Badan Dakwah Islam recognized the need for a larger mosque in Sekupang. Population growth demanded it.
Construction started in 1986. Two years later, Mushallah Baiturahman was complete. It became the second-largest mosque in Batam. Only Masjid Raya Baitusysyakur was bigger. During that time, it was the main mosque in Batam. Big Islamic events happened here.
Covering 3,000 square meters, the Mushallah Baiturahman has a large area. The building itself occupies 1,000 square meters. It can host up to 2,000 people for prayer.
The Mushallah Baiturahman’s design is inspired by Javanese architecture. Its roof has three layers. The top layer represents faith in Allah. The second symbolizes relationships between people. The third stands for the connection between humans and nature.
Green hues dominate the Mushallah Baiturahman. This color symbolizes growth and peace. The structure is mainly cement. The wide terrace and wooden window frames add to its charm. These frames are made of kapur wood.
The Mushallah Baiturahman continues to serve the community. It hosts daily prayers and special events. It is a place where faith and community come together. In April 2024, officials gathered here to celebrate Idul Fitri. They also encouraged supporting Batam’s development.
Subuh keliling activities are also held here. These events strengthen the community’s bonds. They promote unity and brotherhood.
