Did you know that Phnom Penh Autonomous Port New Container Terminal LM17 plays a crucial role in Cambodia’s economic growth? Located about 30 kilometers from Phnom Penh in Kandal Province, it connects Cambodia to the international trade network. Specifically, it facilitates efficient cargo transportation to and from Vietnam.

Phnom Penh Autonomous Port New Container Terminal LM17 is accessible via National Road 1, Ring Road 2, and Ring Road 3. This makes it convenient for businesses in Phnom Penh’s industrial zones. The terminal offers competitive and flexible tariffs compared to other ports in the region. This makes it an attractive option for cost-effective logistics solutions.

The Phnom Penh Autonomous Port New Container Terminal LM17 handles various types of cargo. These include containers, bulk, and breakbulk shipments. Its modern infrastructure and experienced team ensure efficient operations. This efficiency minimizes downtime for businesses. Key services at Container Terminal LM17 include cargo handling and secure storage. They also provide warehousing and streamlined customs clearance. Comprehensive transportation and logistics solutions are available here.

Container Terminal LM17 boasts several key features. It has a water depth of 4.5 meters during the dry season. This allows barges weighing 2,000 to 3,000 tons to dock. The distance for navigation between LM17 and Vietnam ranges from 370 to 445 kilometers. This translates to about 28 to 35 hours of travel. The terminal covers a land area of 40 hectares and has berth space for 9 barges. Its crane capacity reaches 20-25 MPH. The port capacity is 500,000 TEUs per year. There is also a warehouse with 1,464 square meters of space.

PPAP reorganized the LM17 terminal to relieve congestion. The previous design wasn’t efficient. Barges often had to move many containers to reach their cargo. This led to congestion and higher transport costs. PPAP now sorts containers based on transit port and barge operator. Transport companies must provide staff with the required documents when containers arrive. Staff then enters the data into the terminal operating system. This optimizes the sorting process. Shipping companies can also enter data online. PPAP may charge a fee for incorrect or missing information.

The Step 3, Phase I development of the LM17 Container Terminal demonstrates PPAP’s commitment to growth. Inaugurated on September 20, it represents an $18.4 million investment. This expansion adds 100,000 TEUs to the annual handling capacity. It brings the total to 400,000 TEUs. Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol highlighted the economic benefits of this increased capacity. He also mentioned the possibility of connecting the capital to the LM17 terminal by railway. Future plans include Step 4, which aims to increase capacity to 900,000 TEUs by 2030.

So, as you can see Phnom Penh Autonomous Port New Container Terminal LM17 is more than just a port. It’s a vital link in Cambodia’s economic chain. Its strategic location, modern facilities, and ongoing developments make it a key player in the region’s trade and transportation landscape.
