By 1986, the student population exploded. To handle all the students, Yawatari Elementary opened a branch school, also known as the west school building. This branch is what we see today.

Here is a fun fact. The main school now houses third through sixth graders. The branch school is for first and second graders. In the past, younger students attended the main school too. The name remains as a reminder of that time.

The areas around Osaka Municipal Yawatari Elementary School Branch School changed. In 2012, the school districts shifted. Good news for the school: Center Place City joined the school district. This brought even more children to the school.

Osaka Municipal Yawatari Elementary School is quite large today. About 1502 children attend the school. It is one of the biggest elementary schools in Osaka.

Many children come from different kindergartens and nurseries. Most students go on to Yawatari Junior High School. The elementary and junior high work together.

Although divided between the main and branch schools, it maintains unity. The division requires cooperation. Together the school provides quality education. It enriches the lives of its students.
