In 1855, a vision took root in Hamburg-Harburg. This vision became the Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau. It began with German Julius Koeber. He established Koeber’s Hütte Eisengießerei und Maschinenfabrik. This marked the start of Harburg-Freudenberger’s impressive journey. The company, now known as HF GROUP, has a rich history. They initially focused on machinery for the oil and rubber industries. They produced calenders for pressing oilseeds and mixing rubber. Harburg-Freudenberger even became a global leader in tire building machines and curing presses. In 1910, Koeber’s company merged with Maschinenfabrik Eddelbüttel. They formed Harburger Eisen- und Bronzewerke. This new entity became part of the Krupp Group in 1918. In 2005, it was acquired by the Possehl Group and renamed Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH. HF GROUP is organized into three business units. These are HF FoodTech Group, HF MIXING GROUP, and HF TireTech Group. They have over 2,000 employees. In 2022, their revenue was around 367 million euros. Though they moved to Schlachthofstraße in 2020, their legacy remains at the Seevestraße location. The oldest buildings, dating back to 1906/10, still stand. They are a testament to Harburg-Freudenberger’s enduring impact on Hamburg’s industrial landscape.
