What exactly is Area B? You ever heard someone talk about the West Bank and mention ‘Areas A, B, and C’? It sounds a bit like a school grading system, doesn’t it? Well, here in the West Bank, these letters represent something far more complex. Area B, which makes up roughly 22% of the West Bank, is where we stand now. Unlike Area A, which is under full Palestinian control, or Area C, under Israeli control, Area B exists in a state of shared administration. The Palestinian Authority manages civil matters here, like education and healthcare. On the other hand, Israel maintains control over security. Imagine living in a place where two different authorities manage different aspects of your life. This division, born from the Oslo II Accords in 1995, aimed to be a temporary solution. However, the reality on the ground tells a different story.
