Imagine those early days. Eighty-three families mostly from afar came to build new lives. They joined together to form the Giáo xứ Tân Phú community. Life was hard. The people worked together clearing fields. They constructed their church. It began as a simple structure of wood and leaves.
Five years later in 1967 they replaced it. A concrete building with a tôn roof became their new sanctuary. Next came the parish house. Meeting rooms and classrooms followed. Giáo xứ Tân Phú became a place where faith blossomed. More people joined the community. The need for space grew.
After forty years the small church was replaced. In 1997 a grander church arose. This was thanks to Father Đaminh Vũ Nguyên Thiều and the dedicated parishioners. On June 3 2005 Father Giuse Lê Đình Quế Minh became the parish priest. In 2007 he renovated the church. This renovation marked the tenth anniversary of its dedication. Giáo xứ Tân Phú stands strong today.
