Opened in 1998, SK Setapak Indah wasn’t always known by this name. Originally, it was called SK Seri Melati. This echoed the nearby Taman Melati housing development. Imagine the first students, wide-eyed with anticipation, walking into the brand new school. They were part of a fresh community, a growing neighborhood in Kuala Lumpur. SK Setapak Indah started with grades one through five. It had 41 teachers and two support staff. It served around 700 eager students. The school’s first principal, Datin Ramlah binti Sugiman, laid the foundation for its future success. In 2004, the school underwent a name change. It became Sekolah Kebangsaan Setapak Indah. This aligned it with its location in Setapak Indah and the neighboring secondary school, SMK Setapak Indah. This change solidified its identity within the community. Today, SK Setapak Indah boasts a student body of over 1200 students and more than 80 dedicated teachers. It continues to serve as an important educational hub for the families of Setapak Indah. The school’s commitment to providing a nurturing and comprehensive learning environment has shaped generations of students. They are prepared for bright futures.
