Have you ever imagined a world where you could walk beneath the surface of the ocean? Welcome to Deniz Dünyası Akvaryum, right here in Ankara. Built in 2010, this fascinating structure invites you to dive into the captivating depths of the sea, right in the middle of the city. Standing tall in the Keçiören district, Deniz Dünyası Akvaryum is the first and only educational aquarium in Turkey. The large aquarium spans a massive 4 000 square meters – providing a space for over 4 000 fish from 150 different species to swim. But it’s not all about the fish, here. The aquarium features a tunnel section where you can walk right into the water and find yourself surrounded by creatures from the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. If you’re lucky, you might even spot one of the two 1.5-meter-long Nile crocodiles in the aquarium’s crocodile area. But there’s more in store. You can enjoy a refreshing break at the cafeteria – if you can tear yourself away from the incredible underwater scenes. And for a truly tactile experience, you can visit the touch pools where you can touch and feed the friendly Koi fish. Deniz Dünyası Akvaryum offers an opportunity to explore the vast and magical underwater world, right in the heart of Ankara.
