“A symphony of echoes” whispers Hamman Hall. This isn’t just any building. It’s a 475-seat proscenium-style auditorium on the Rice University campus. Built in 1958 Hamman Hall has a rich history. Initially it housed music theatre and performing arts. Today it’s the heart of the Rice Theatre Program.

Imagine the physics lectures that once filled this space. Now the air vibrates with the energy of actors and the applause of audiences. The Rice Players have graced this stage since before the Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts even existed. They still perform two shows a year here. This hall has witnessed countless performances. It has seen budding actors transform into seasoned performers.

Hamman Hall is more than just a venue. It’s a testament to Rice University’s commitment to the arts. It’s a place where creativity flourishes. It’s a space where memories are made. For non-profit organizations it’s even available for rent. However only during the academic year.

From September to May Hamman Hall opens its doors to various groups. Finding parking is easy. A pay-to-park lot sits conveniently across the street. There are also on-campus lots and even 15-minute spots nearby. So whether you are attending a performance or renting the space you’ll find parking effortless. The legacy of Hamman Hall extends beyond its walls.

This auditorium is a living embodiment of Rice University’s vibrant cultural scene. The theatre program uses it as home base. However Hamman Hall offers so much more. Every performance here is a step into a world of imagination. Every play brings unique magic. It’s a place that resonates with the spirit of theatre and innovation. A place where stories come alive. A truly special place.
