A wave of glass. That’s the first thing you notice about the Green Lane Academic Building. Its undulating facade shimmers in the sunlight a breathtaking display of modern architecture.
Welcome to Kean University’s Green Lane Academic Building a stunning structure opened in January 2014. This isn’t just any academic building. It’s a testament to innovative design and a bold vision for the future of higher education. Housed within its walls are the Michael Graves School of Architecture and the Robert Busch School of Design. Kean University’s expanding business program also calls this building home.
The Green Lane Academic Building isn’t just about impressive looks though. Its design was a massive undertaking. The radius and sloping curtainwall presented significant construction challenges. The tilted ellipse feature wall for instance required keeping the radius constant while projecting out 4.5 feet at each floor. It’s like an ice cream cone on the side of a glass building. Imagine the precision and expertise required to bring this vision to life.
The building boasts a monumental staircase with bench seating and glass rails. As you walk inside you’ll see a stunning circular meeting room on the sixth floor. It has 18-foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views. A 4500-square-foot rooftop terrace provides an even more spectacular panorama.
But the Green Lane Academic Building is more than just aesthetics. It’s environmentally conscious too. The nearly 6000 linear feet of sunshades help manage solar heat gain and glare contributing to energy efficiency. Linetec the company that finished the aluminum framing uses sustainable practices minimizing pollutants and reusing heat energy.
This building isn’t just a structure. It’s a symbol. A symbol of Kean University’s commitment to providing a world-class education and a memorable student experience. It represents innovation sustainability and the power of design to inspire. The Green Lane Academic Building is a striking example of modern architecture. It’s a place where learning thrives. It’s a place you’ll remember long after you leave.
