“What’s in a name?” asks the poet. Here at Varsha, the name means everything.

Varsha Bungalow is the official residence of Maharashtra’s Chief Minister. It stands in Mumbai’s Malabar Hills. This 12000 sq ft bungalow is more than just a house. It is a center of power and decision-making.

Let’s delve into Varsha’s story. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik secured this bungalow. It happened on February 20 1975. Naik was in office then.

But the story does not end there. On 5 December 1963, another Chief Minister also secured his position here. It was during the time of Chief Minister Kannamwar.

Varsha has evolved over the years. Chief Minister Dada Saheb Kannamwar moved here. After him, Naik also resided here.

Did you know that “Varsha” means rain in Marathi? The name was chosen by Chief Minister Vasantrao Naik. Before it was called “Dog Brigade”. Naik changed the name.

The bungalow includes an office for the CM. There is a waiting hall. A meeting area exists too. A pantry caters to visitors. Other amenities are available. It’s all protected by a special police team. These officers are well-trained.

The gardens around Varsha are lush. Mango trees grow here. Lemon and supari trees dot the landscape. Different types of plants thrive.

Imagine the decisions made within these walls. Picture the political strategies formed here. Varsha has been a silent witness to Maharashtra’s history.

So, as we stand before Varsha Bungalow remember its significance. It is not just a residence. It is a symbol of leadership. It is a landmark in Mumbai’s vibrant political landscape.
