Dahlewitz was founded in the 13th century. For centuries, it remained a small village. The arrival of the railway in 1875 changed everything. Dahlewitz found itself connected to the wider world. A railway station was built in 1884.
After German reunification in 1990, Dahlewitz experienced another transformation. BMW Rolls-Royce chose Dahlewitz for its aeroengine technical center. This was a major investment. It brought jobs and new technologies to the area. In 2000, the company became Rolls-Royce Deutschland.
Archaeological work uncovered tombs from the 5th and 6th centuries BC. These findings prove Dahlewitz has a long history. Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Roman artifacts were also found.

The name Dahlewitz comes from the Slavic word Dolovica or Dolovec. It means settlement in the valley. In 1305, Margrave Hermann gave the patronage rights over the church to the Benedictine monastery in Spandau.
In 1375, the village had 50 hides of land. Some of this land was owned by noblemen and clergymen. Dahlewitz suffered during the Thirty Years’ War. But it recovered and grew over time.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, Dahlewitz saw changes in ownership and land use. A manor was established. It included a brewery, a starch factory, and a brickyard.
In 1896, Wilhelm Böckmann, an architect, turned Dahlewitz into a model estate. He built a Gutsbahn. It transported agricultural products to the railway line. He also erected a large water tower. The tower became a landmark of Dahlewitz.
In the 20th century, Dahlewitz continued to evolve. Bruno Taut, an architect, lived in the village. In 1940, Dahlewitz was connected to the S-Bahn. After World War II, land was redistributed to new farmers.
Today, Dahlewitz is a modern village with a rich history. It is home to Rolls-Royce Deutschland. This company continues the tradition of innovation. The village also has a church. It likely stood around 1305. A Gutshaus was built around 1800.
