Did the walls of The Church of Pentecost Abeka Central ever whisper secrets of Accra’s past? Today, they stand tall and modern. But their story echoes back to a time when the old structure, burdened by cracks and failing columns, worried its congregation. The Church of Pentecost Abeka Central, as many of you know, wasn’t always this grand. It once faced a critical juncture, a point where its very structure threatened the safety of those it sheltered. The old building, weakened by time and the elements, was deemed unsafe. Imagine the weight of that realization on the community. In March 2019, a new chapter began. The Church of Pentecost Abeka Central was reborn. A magnificent edifice, valued at over GH₵4.3 million, rose from the site of the old. It boasts multiple auditoriums. One for the central assembly. One for the English assembly. Another dedicated to the Children’s Ministry. The new structure also includes a car park, a baptistery, offices, a disabled ramp, and many more modern amenities. This transformation was no small feat. The dedication ceremony was a momentous occasion. Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, led the proceedings, praising the district members’ commitment. He particularly acknowledged Elder Patrick Kwame Danso and Deaconess Gifty Danso for their extraordinary contribution. Elder Danso, an estate developer and building contractor, personally funded over 70% of the project. A testament to the power of individual dedication and generosity. During the ceremony, Apostle Nyamekye spoke on the theme, “What Shall I Render to the Lord”. He encouraged believers to express constant gratitude to God. He lamented the tendency to overlook blessings. He reminded the congregation that even the simple act of raising one’s hands is a gift to be thankful for. The new Church of Pentecost Abeka Central is not just a building. It’s a symbol of resilience, faith, and the power of community. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of challenges, something beautiful and enduring can emerge. As you admire its modern facade, remember the story of its transformation. A story woven with dedication, generosity, and a steadfast belief in something greater.
