Originally, the school was called Arpuli Pathshala. It was later known as Colootala Branch School. In 1867, it was finally renamed Hare School. The school is located opposite Presidency University. David Hare’s story is remarkable. He came to India to make a fortune as a watch-maker. However, he became deeply concerned about the native population’s conditions.
