“You are here on Purpose.” That’s the welcoming message the Gospel Tabernacle offers. It assures you that your life and gifts are valuable. The Gospel Tabernacle embraces a Pentecostal born-again experience. It is committed to improving the quality of life for residents and congregants.
The Gospel Tabernacle Church of Jesus Christ was established on February 10, 1972. Bishop Samuel Green led the church. At that time, he was called Elder Green. He was an assistant pastor to Bishop W. Pickett. This was at Apostolic Gospel Church in Brooklyn. God called Bishop Green. He willingly became the shepherd of a small flock. He stepped out in faith. The church began to multiply.
With the growth of the church, a move was necessary. The Gospel Tabernacle relocated from 1632 Nostrand Avenue to 1513 Nostrand Avenue. This new building was much larger. The Lord continued to add to the church. A larger building was needed again.
Today the Gospel Tabernacle has multiple branches. There are four in New York. Three are in Florida. It also has outreaches in the Cayman Islands. Jamaica and St. Lucia are also served. The Gospel Tabernacle operates a food pantry out of its main branch.
The Gospel Tabernacle performs marriages. It offers marriage and family counseling. The church dedicates babies and infants. It provides youth activities. The ministry is dedicated to the Word of God. The Gospel Tabernacle ministries have touched thousands of lives. This has been the case since its beginning in February 1972.
The Gospel Tabernacle has been at 725 Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn since 1984. It has seen many positive changes in the community. It is working for even greater improvements. New residents are always welcome. The ministry at 725 Franklin Avenue is an annex. The main branch is at 2314 Snyder Avenue in Brooklyn. The main branch has been in Brooklyn for 48 years. The Franklin Avenue location is a training center. It is for lay leaders and pastors. It has nurtured and released many pastors. These pastors are now in various states.
The Gospel Tabernacle is a non-profit organization. It is a 501c3. The church is working to add new programs. These programs will benefit the community. They have programs in mind for the elderly. They also want new youth activities. These will better prepare young people for the future.
The goal of the Gospel Tabernacle is to share the love of Christ. This is done through preaching the gospel. They use various forms. You are welcome to join them for Sunday worship. Monday Intercessory Prayer is also available. Wednesday Bible teaching is offered too. On the fourth Friday of every month, there is youth fellowship. This is done through Zoom.
The Gospel Tabernacle headquarters offers several services. Sunday school is at 10:00 AM. Mid-day worship is at 12:00 PM. Tuesday night prayer is at 8:00 PM. Wednesday night Bible class is at 8:00 PM.
The Gospel Tabernacle celebrated 42 years of ministry. This celebration spanned from 1972 to 2014. General Convocation was held. It ran from Monday, June 30, to Sunday, July 6, 2014. Services began at 7:30 pm nightly. Day sessions were from Tuesday to Saturday at 1:00 pm.
