A simple faith. That’s what defines Canyon View Church of Christ. This isn’t just a building. It’s a story of unity. In 1994 two congregations the Clairemont and Pacific Beach churches joined together. They formed this vibrant community of faith right here in San Diego.
Canyon View Church of Christ isn’t just about Sunday sermons. It’s a place where the Great Commission comes alive. That’s the mission to make disciples teaching them to obey Christ’s words. It’s a mission that extends beyond San Diego. Pastor Barry Day speaks of reaching out to those who don’t yet know Christ’s love. The church does this through various ministry teams.
One unique event is their annual Winter Wonderland. Real snow is shipped in. Children sled down hills. There’s even a live Nativity scene with real animals. It’s a magical experience for the whole community. But the church’s mission extends beyond festive events.
Pastor Day shares a moving anecdote. He describes a chance encounter with a rough-looking man in Oregon. This man despite his troubled past had a huge cross around his neck. He showed Pastor Day a binder filled with pictures documenting his life. A life of crime drugs and hardship. The encounter was a powerful reminder. It showed the pastor that even those living rough lives are deserving of God’s love. These are the people Jesus sought to save.
Canyon View Church of Christ emphasizes a people-oriented Christianity. They seek to live a simple Christian life. They strive to seek first the kingdom of God. They believe that God will bless them with all they need. The church hosts men’s and ladies’ breakfasts. It encourages community involvement and blood donations. There are even teams called WINGS responsible for hospitality.
