It blossomed from the Grundschulabteilung of the old Peter-Petersen-Schule. Now it stands proudly on Hasenweg 40 in Hamburg’s Sasel district.
Grundschule Hasenweg wasn’t always independent. It gained its name in 2010. Before that it was part of another school. The school’s location on Hasenweg gave it its identity. A new chapter began with its own name.
The school isn’t just about academics. It’s a vibrant community. The Schülernest after-school program cares for about ninety-one percent of the students. It offers early morning late afternoon and evening care. It even includes holiday care. This collaboration with the Rudolf-Ballin-Stiftung is key to its success.
But Grundschule Hasenweg’s story isn’t just about childcare. It’s a testament to transformation. The school underwent significant renovations in 2016. The project cost around 545000 euros. It was a major undertaking. The goal was to create space for the school’s expanded full-day program. Trapez Architektur and Technotherm Lübeck were involved in the ambitious project. The result is impressive. There are now four class buildings a renovated sports hall and a new gymnastics hall. Each building has a distinct color. Green is the main building. Other colors denote preschool administration and cafeteria areas.
