This isn’t just any statue. It’s the world’s first public sculpture dedicated to Mackintosh, unveiled on the 90th anniversary of his death in 2018. The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Statue stands tall, a 2.8-meter bronze testament to the artist, architect, and designer. He sits perched atop his own iconic high-backed chair, a design originally created for Glasgow’s Argyle Street Tea Rooms. The statue gazes westward, a fitting tribute in his home city of Glasgow. Commissioned by Sanctuary Group to commemorate their regeneration of Anderston, the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Statue serves as a reminder of his enduring legacy. Sculptor Andy Scott, a Glasgow School of Art alumnus, poured his admiration for Mackintosh into this three-ton masterpiece.
