Just a kilometer south of Wat Luang Po Ophasi, in the Bang Mot district, Wat Puttha Bucha stands as a testament to the meditation tradition. As you enter, a giant representation of Luang Pu Man greets you. This prominent statue signifies Wat Puttha Bucha’s focus on meditation. Luang Pu Man, a revered monk from the Isan region, was a master of this practice. Inside the Ubosot, a magnificent sight awaits. A replica of the famed Phra Phuttha Chinnarat of Phitsanulok, identical in every detail, graces the temple. The walls surrounding the Buddha are adorned with three levels of murals. The top level depicts rows of Devas. Below, scenes alternate between the life of Buddha and his previous lives, the Jatakas. Wat Puttha Bucha also boasts a new, grand stupa, adding to its splendor. The temple’s location offers a charming glimpse into Bangkok’s preserved areas. A concrete pontoon allows you to stroll along the canal, surrounded by local cultures and homes.
